About
Who writes it
Section titled “Who writes it”Senior Dev Notes is written and maintained by Uday. It exists because most system design material assumes you have already been paged at 3 AM, and most beginners have not. The goal is to explain each idea the way a patient senior engineer would mentor a junior: start from the real problem, look at the wrong turns, then go deep, and finish by pointing at what to learn next.
How pages are made
Section titled “How pages are made”Each topic page is researched and drafted with AI assistance, then reviewed and edited by Uday before it goes live. The process is the same for every page:
- Research. Primary sources first: RFCs, specifications, official documentation and original papers. Then engineering blogs from teams that run the thing at scale, and the popular explainers, to see how the topic is usually taught and where learners get stuck.
- Write in our own words. Nothing is copied from sources. Every source used is listed in the page’s Further reading, with a line on what it is good for.
- Build the visuals. Diagrams are hand-made SVG. Simulations are small, deterministic programs: press Reset and you get exactly the same run again.
- Run the code. Every snippet on a page has a runnable twin in the
examples/folder of the repository, and it was run before the page was published. - Review. A human reads the whole page, checks the facts that can change (versions, limits, defaults carry an “as of” date and a source), and asks for changes before it ships.
Each page shows when it was last updated. Mistakes still slip through; if you find one, please say so (see below), and it will be fixed.
Suggest a topic
Section titled “Suggest a topic”The roadmap lists everything already planned. If something you want explained is not on it, or a page left you confused:
- Open an issue on GitHub with the topic and, if you can, the question you were trying to answer. Confusing pages are worth an issue too: “I got lost at section X” is very useful feedback.
- Spotted a typo or a wrong fact? Use the Edit page link at the bottom of any page to propose a fix directly.
The source
Section titled “The source”The site is built with Astro and Starlight, and hosted on Netlify. The code is on GitHub.
